in the nature of a curosity was found
about eight miles above town on the
old Hemphill farm now owned by
Mr Will Smith It is the skeleton of
a buffalo standing erect with head
slightly lifted as if to keep it above
the bog The skeleton can he seen in
the bluff of the river It is about
twelve feet fiom the surface of the
giound and about twenty feet from
the sin face of the water The river
whenon a rise will cause the bluff
to cive off and the skeleton in this
way has been exposed It has probab-
ly been visible for some time but
only recently discoveied It is com-
pletely intact I
