HOWE'S
THAT
genps
i
Time was wlien inffaTIon
was boosting prices on every-
thing by three to five percent
at a time, occasionally.
Now we’ve noticed anytime
we make a purchase, most it-
ems are taking a bigger leap.
Almost every dab of stock of
any description used in the news
paper business has paralleled
other Increases. Instead of a no-
tice that a “slight” increase is
effective at such a "date, we
receive a form letter almost
weekly from one company or
another stating “add 10 per-
cent to current prices listed in
our catalog”. Guess it’s increas-
ing so fast they,, don’t have time
to work up new price lists be-
fore they’re but of. date.
And that 10 percent “tempo-
rary” tax, or surcharge, which
was imposed “to curb inflation”
doesn’t help any in trying to
pay for inflation that is occur-
ring anyway.
A circle" is not supposed to
have an end, but this one has;
it’s just a case of when we come
to it.

Running into debt isn’t so bad;
it’s running into creditors that
hurts.
Howe’s growing!
And just like any other grow-
ing family, problems arise with
the sun each morning.
WeTre interested in people
who are interested in Howe and
the surrounding area — people
who are interested enough to
try to find out the facts about
what’s buggin"" ’em, whether Is3
about sales taxes, city taxes,
school taxes, streets, smcg,
garbage burning, pickup and
disposal, law enforcement, or
lack of ft, etc.
We don’t claim to be an au-
thority on "anything, but well
try to find out the answers from
someone who is on any partic-
ular subject, if anyone is inter- j p]anjL
ested enough to ask. Just call:

ing initials—you don’t even have ! vited to bring in a stalk of cot-
