Around the Diocese
Pastoral Institute

She said she came to that conclusion after a
meeting in October in San Antonio, hosted by Sister
Eilish Ryan, CCVI, head of the Pastoral Institute at
Incarnate Word College.
Representatives from the dioceses of San Antonio,
Dallas, Brownsville and Corpus Christi attended,
“and we did most of the sharing of our
information,” said Sister Connors. “They were just
overwhelmed by our organization and how much we
have accomplished in the last two-and-a-half years.”

skills courses were held in many dif-
ferent areas of the diocese, in-
cluding two Liturgy and Sacraments
classes taught by Father Bar-

Notes from the D
I received a letter from Mrs. Betty Miller of the
National Church Commission in Washington, D.C.
with some information I would like to share with you.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began in
Graymoor, Garrison in New York in 1908. Within a
few years it spread throughout the world, awakening
Christians to the reality of the tragic disunity which
they had long taken for granted. It has continued to
be what some have called a “permanent dialogue of
spirituality which expresses what should happen dur-
ing the whole year.”
As part of our program in ecumenism, I encourage
your organization to participate in the activities
scheduled for the Week of Prayer in January. The
theme for this years event is “Reconciled to God in
Christ” (1 Cor. 5:17-6:4).
I hope that you will share this information with
members in your area. Plan now for a successful pro-
gram in January.
