Hope, Action & Care
HdoEvtcym,
I would like to talk today about Body
Ait (Tattooing). First you need to
ask yourself is body art right ior me.
A lot of people get tattoos because
their friends get a tattoo etc. This is
something that will be with you the
rest iof your life and if you do decide
to take it off; sometimes it really
leaves an ugly scar from the removal.
Here are a few SELF-TEST questions
to ask your self before getting body
art These questions can help you
make a decision you'll be satisfied
with; Is body art right for me? Is
body art safe for me? What about
later? How will I care for it?
y<s»_No_.
1 want body art for personal reason,
not because others are pressuring
me. Ye*_No_.
I will make sober decisions about
body art, without the influence or
alcohol or other drags, V— No .
Body rt has a personal meaning for
me. It's not just a way for me to go
against my family or society.
Yes_No_.
I understand the procedure for getting
the body art I want, and I'm prepared
for it. Yes_No.
Any NO answers could be a sign that
you need more time to think about
your decision. You need to be sure
that a professional artist is doing
your work and that all equipment is
properly sterilized. Sharing needles
or other body art instruments could
result in serious diseases, including
HIV or Hepatitis-B or c. Autoclav-

improper care man lead to serious
infections.
Body art now can affect future rela-
tionships and friends for better or
worse. Think if you will like the
body art in 5 or 10 years from now.
After receiving a tattoo you must
care for it daily until it has healed.
Good cleaning agents for new body
art is Hibiclens and Betadine. Sun-
light over a period of time will fade
a tattoo.

The most effective deterrent to drug use among kids isn’t the

police, or prisons, or politicians. One of the most effective
deterrents to drug use among kids is their parents. Kids who learn
. Su
about the risks of drugs from their parents are 36% leSS likely
to Smoke marijuana than kids who learn nothing from them.
They are 50% less likely to use inhalants. 56% less likely to use
cocaine. 65% less likely to use LSD. So if you’re a parent, talk to
your kids about drugs. Research also shows that 74% of all fourth
graders wish their parents would talk to them about
drugs. If you don’t know what to say, visit www.theantidrug.com

The Geocentric System
Five hundred years ago, the sun was thought
to revolve around the earth. People did not
know then what we know now. Truths change.
Wte now know smoking marijuana is harmful.
The younger you are, the more harmful It may
be. Research has shown that people who
smoke marijuana before the age of 15 were
over 7 times more likely to use other drugs
than people who have never smoked
marijuana.
Illegal drugs are estimated to cost America over $110 billion each year in treatment, enforcement, incarceration and social damage. But what doe could you buy lor $110 billion? Well, you
could build 1,692 new hospitals. Or operate 632 universities. Or 3,667 national parks. You could hire 2,955,956 new high school teachers. Or you could put 758,620 new buses on the road.
