district has $42,000 realized by

family are well. They had in-

Lt. D. R. Hackney came in
Monday from (’amp Bowie, to
see his many friends here be-
fore embarking for France. He
went to Houston for a short vis-
it to his parents and will then
go to France where he will go
on the line of battle.

All camps in Montgomery,
San Jacinto, Polk, Walker,
Grimes and Brazos counties
have inaugurated a big mem-
bership campaign. The drive
will close sometime during the
fall with a big rally and class

J.Chrisman as chairman of this
district, was organized last Kri-
duy afternoon at the close of
the Twentieth Century Club
meeting, when many other
prominent citizens also affiliat-
ed with the movement.* Enthu-
siasm reigned high and gave
promise that a very active cam-
paign was launched for this
