A crew of seven derrick
builders arrived Wednesday
noon from Houston and went!
out immediately and started
the big 112 foot derrick on the
’easehold of 1000 acres of the
Conroe Gil Company.
By Friday morning the big
derrick, which is 112 feet high
'ind built for drilling a 6,000
foot well, will be completed,
and as soon as possible the com-
pany will get the rig and all
other machinery on the ground
ready to begin drilling. The
trilling must commence before
Oct. 30, according to the leases’
on most of*the tand.
Mr. L. J. Carroll, secretary-
treasurer of the company, came
jp with th« derrick men and i
rave out thu statement that
trilling would commence on or!
before the last of October.
The location for the first
veil was made last vvoek by
Mr. Qierry, supervisor of pro-
lufUon for the company. The
place was chosen after much
■areful survey of the land.
While it was possible to choose
several places all of which had
rood indications, the most fav-
orable was the one lying about
the middle of the Henry Juer-
res land, one hundred feet
>om the north line.
As soon the location was!
made the lumber was piarrd
on the ground by Quincy
Crooke, who cut the bill for the
lerrick. |
