t^*at Rogers, life long
Harper resident, was the
Hero of the game against
Getter Point making six out
oteeven touchdowns,
t fWith the score standing
aiJ:j24-0 in favor of the local
sgiiad at the end of the first
half, Coach Rex Fox sent in
his subs for experience in
the remainder of the game
which finally ended with
Harper on the big end of the
42-25 score.”
“Out of the six trips
across the pay station,
Rogers took three of the
aerial passes from Clark
Bierschwale for 18 points.
On three other occasions
Rogers scampered around
the end to cross the pay
strip for another 18 points..
Two of these runs were for
approximately 50 and 60
yards each.”
“Harper’s 7th touchdown
was scored by Leroy Tatsch,
who scampered practically
the full length of the foot-
ball diamond on a kick-off
return. Tatsch picked up
the oval, following a Center
Point kick in the third quar-
ter, on his own one-yard
zone, and evaded all of the
opposition, with the assis-
tance of good interference
from other teammates, as
he ran the 79 yards for the
score.”
This excerpt is taken
from the Oct. 28,1949, issue
of The Harper Herald.
Another Pat Rogers story
is told by Buzzy Parker. He
said that at one game, Pat
wasn’t there at the begin-
ning but had to go to some-
thing with his family. He
came in toward the end.
They threw him a helmet;
he ran out with street
clothes, caught a pass and
made a touchdown that
won the game.
The football team went
on to win state.

Lots of hunters and lots of

volunteers from the com-
munity, the churches and
local youth.
The ladies of Harper out
did themselves with their
delicious cakes for dessert.
Many were sent to be auc-

recipes or had spectacular
decorations. The Italian
Cremes, Double Chocolate,
German Chocolate and
many others earned almost
$500 for the fire depart-
ment. Thank you ladies!!!

school classes that decorat-
