Harper Celebrated 42nd Annual Frontier Days
September 1 and 2, 2006,
marked the 42nd Annual
Frontier Days and Rodeo in
Harper. Pictured above are
the winners of the kids’ fish-
ing contest. Tristan Siveils,
Teft, caught the biggest fish
(8.75 inches) and Clay
Graham caught the most
fish (5). (Other fishing
results are listed on page 2.)
One of the highlights of
the parade was Terry Theis
on the big bike loaned to
him by the Banti Creek
Trading Post. This bike was
originally owned by Bones
and is called a “penny far-
thing bike.”
Another highlight was
the float with the little Mr.
and Miss Harpers. They are
from left, David Burdick,
Melissa Ann-Renee Noble,
Tiffany Adair, and Joshua
Moore.

domino tournament (won
by Speedy Edwards and
Shay Tatsch who donated
winnings back to the park),
a jam session by local musi-
cians, a barbecue dinner
and dances both evenings.

their time and energy to
helping the Park Board run
this annual event and raise
funds so we all can continue
to enjoy the park!

Longhorns Earn a 1-1 Record in Football Ladyhorns Win Harper Tournament
The Friday Night Lights
are burning brightly in
Harper as the team begins
football season here with
two home games.
The Longhorns started
slowly with a defeat from
Sonora on September 1
(21-7). The team is being
led by quarterback Cade
Tatsch after Cutter
Bernhard was side-lined for
the season with an injury.
At half-time, the Sonora
Broncos led 13 - 7.
* It was a closely fought
tiattle with no team scoring
in the third quarter. Sonora
came back with a touch-
down and a two-point con-
version in the fourth quar-
ter to win 21-7.

defense with 13 total tack-

tackles were Cade Tatsch,
Sammy Winters, B.F.
Hammonds, and Shane
Untermeyer.
The second home game
was played against Menard.
It was Parents’ Night and
the Longhorns put the first
score up with a 26 yard run
by Sammy Winters. This was
answered by Menard and
the score was tied at the
end of the first quarter.
Harper scored again in
the second quarter with
quarterback Cade Tatsch
making an eight -yard pass
to Winters. Each time
Robert Hughes kicked for
the extra point making the
score 14-7 at the half.
The third quarter passed
without a score on either
side. In the fourth quarter
Jett Rogers made a 6-yard
run; Robert Hughes kicking
the extra point. Luke Wolfe
made an 18-yard run and
scored again with Hughes
kicking the extra point. The
final touchdown was made
with a 30-yard pass to Colin
Lee. The extra point was no
good. The final score was
34-7.
Allan Tatum and Cade
Tatsch led with 22 and 21
tackles respectively. Other
teammates with double
digit tackles were Sammy
Winters, Jett Rogers, Nick
Wolfe, B.F. Hammonds,
James Brand, and Shane
Untermeyer.

Harper Library Presents Jean Ross with Plaque
Members of the Harper Library present a plaque in honor of Jean Ross, Founding
Librarian. The plaque reads: “Jean Ross, MLS, Founding Librarian, Harper Library, 2005.
Your knowledge, leadership, desire and dedication made it happen.
Thank you.” An identical plaque is being sent to Jean in Ohio.
