Checkoff Reaches Thousands with
Convient Beff Products at State Fair
The $1 beef checkoff program tantalized the tastebuds of more
than 28,000 attendees to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas this fall
with samples of new, convenient beef products.
The sampling gave consumers the opportunity to taste many of the
new products now available in Texas supermarkets, including
microwaveable pot roast, hamburgers and chicken fried steak.
During the three-week run of the fair from Sept. 29 to Oct. 22, TBC
sampled each Thursday through Sunday, totaling 10 full days for
consumers to tast the products at the fair's Food and Fiber Pavilion.
"We had a huge positive reaction from people who tried the
products," said TBC's consumer marketing coordinator Jennifer
Colvin. "Many people had seen the products in their grocery stores
but were hesitant aside and pull out their pocketbooks."
In addition to the beef products, the checkoff also distributed more
than 187,000 brochures containing recipes and beef nutrition
information to the fair goers. TBC also handed out 25,500 computer
stickers with TBC's website address, www.txbeef.org. The website
offers thousands of beef recipes and easy to find nutrition
information.
TBC will continue its efforts to reach consumers with convenient
beef products throughout the 2000-2001 fiscal year.
