WINKLER COUNTY
NEEDS AN AIRPORT!
We endorse the bond issue providing for improvements to the airport and its take-over and
operation by Winkler County as a county facility. We urge you to vote for and support this
issue. Your vote will be a vote for growth and progress. Here are our reasons for urging your
support:
1. There will be NO tax increase or valuation in-
crease.
2. Improvements will virtually assure continu-
ance of operation of FAA Station at the air-
port. It has approximately $90,000 in annual
payroll.
3. We can make use of present $1 million invest-
ment which includes runways IV2-miles long
with adequate foundation for any type of
plane.
4. Safety of location away from any dense pop-
5. The present airport land is available at no
cost while other land, if available, would be
expensive.
6. The airport is the last stop enroute west to
El Paso. Radio navigation aids are presently
installed and in operation.
7. The airfield serves as an emergency and al-
ternate field for the planes of Continental,
American and Trans-Texas Airlines.
8. An adequate airport is essential to any indus-
ulation. trial development.
