Mrs. Mathis, formerly Miss
Lucy Dean, daughter of the late

until moving to Texarkana.
She is survived by two sons,
Henry and Frank Mathw, Texar-
kana; two daughters, Mrs R. E.
Dempster, New Orleans, La , and
Miss T lizabeth Mathis, San An-
tonio; (our grandchildren and three
great-grandchi dren, besides two
sisters: Mrs. Lizzie Martin, Paris,
and Mrs. Mary E Bright Long
Beach, Calif.

A. G. Skaggs Dies ‘
at McAllen
A G Skaggs. 37, died at a hos-
pital in McAllen Tuesday at 5 p
m., following a fall he received
the day before. He was operating
a cafe in McAllen and fainted and
fell Monday striking his head on
the tile floor, but was not consider-
ed in a serious condition.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Miss Frances Lee, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Mart Lee, of Ful-
bright, three children: Reagan,
Donna and John Paul;his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Skaggs,
Rugby, and these brothers and
sisters: J. D. and Ross Skaggs,
Fulbright; T V. Skaggs, Depart;
Roy Skaggs, in Korea, Mrs. Bill
Lewis and Miss Kathryne Skaggs,
Dallas.

at Home
J. J. Flail, about 75, died at his
home at Davenport Monday
morning shortly after 9 o’clock,
following. a long illnesa. Funeral
services were held Wednesday at
2 JO p. m. at Clarksville Funeral
Home, conducted by Rev. Davis.
Mr. HaO waa bom and reared in
that section and reared a large
family.
Besides his wife these children
survive: Mrs. Walter Garrison,
Detroit; J. A. Hsll, Edmond, Ok ;
Mrs. David Burkhead. Texarkana;
Edward Hall and Albert Hall,
Fort Worth; jack Hall. Dallas;
Clovis HaO. Wichita Falla; Mrs
John Perry, Jr., Fort Worth, and
Miss Velma Hall, at home, and a
number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.

Mr. Norris, born March 24.
1866, at the old Norris home,
about one mi'e south of where De-
troit now is, the son at Major
John N. and Mary Jane Rogers
Norris, and was engaged in the
mercantile business at Detroit for
more than 50 years.
A family ot eight children, only
one sister survives. Mrs. E. B.
Lyle. Other survivors are his
wife, the former Miss Zona Scaff
and a son by a previous marriage,
Frank Norris, both of Detroit.

All the churches of Detroit sus-
pended services Sunday night and
joined in the baccalaureate ser-
vice at the high school auditorium.
The service was carried out aa
provided in the program. Rev.
Bill Betts brought a splendid mes-
sage of advice to the class
members.
Open New Road
The new hignwuy between De-
troit and Blossom is bring officially
opened this week to traffic. This
will shorten the distance and a new
road makes for faster driving.
