Pioneer Women
Oh, they milked the cows on
.....a frosty morn,
They slopped the hogs, and
shucked the corn;
TjbJey set the kids on the old
plow mule,
To pled 3 miles to the con try
Edhool;
They '.chopped some wood, and
then in turn,
Gri hared buffalo chips to help
it burn;
Ttt' ' killed a rattler on the old
milk keg,
Tien in with the chips, (they
-carried the eggs;
And I know they stood In /their
roam bare-walled,
And prayed, “Dear God, “We’re
thankful for all.”
But yet, my dears, they were
women too,
W’rh their alpaca skirts', and
bonnets new,
And I'f-ni'r welcome was ever as
warm ar.d true
As the one ionite extended you;
Then with children in bed all
STirg rnd worm,
They fainted, my dears, as sure
as you’re born;
Then raised a scream iihiat shook
