Preparing the site. Work commenced on the Downtown U.S. Post Office on July 29th 1917. Overseeing the project for the United States Government was J. C. Elliott, Mr. Elliott's official title with the U.S. Government was: Superintendent of Construction, U.U. Public Buildings.
