Rogers Troppy of U. S. N., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Troppy,
came home on leave Dec. 15 after
completing 16 weeks training at
the Navy Technical Training
Center at Mem'phjs,. Tenn. He
will leave Dec. 27 by plane for
Seattle, Wash, and from there
he will go to Kodaik where he
will be stationed for several
months.
Joyce Newburn, Harland and
Lee Watfeon have been on the
sick list.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Troppy,
Rogers and Mary Alice were
Wednesday supper guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Stump of Elsa.
Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Newburn
were in Harlingen Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Stump en-
tertained with a .Tamale supper
Saturday night. Guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Ecklekamp. Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Stump of Elsa,
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ecklekamp,
Mrs. Mary Mason of Raymond-
ville and Ben Ecklekamp.

Marion Pearson entertained a
group of school friends with a
Christmas party at her home Sat-
urday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Troppy,
Rogers and Mary Alice had sup-
per with Mr. and Mrs. L. O. New-
burn Friday.
Irene McClaugherty attended a
slumber party at the home of
Duana Strader of Lyford Satur-
day night.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lofton and
daughter Jann spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Lof-
ton and family of Lyford.
Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Dale of Mer-
cedes visited Mr. and Mrs. Seth
Westfall and Mr. and Mrs. Ried
Rikard Sunday.

Canasia Party
Mrs. Herman Gerdes was' hos-
tess for a canasta party at her
home Thursday afternoon. After
playing canasta the guests ex-
changed Christmas presents. The
ones that were, present were Mes-
dames Don Lindsley, Lester Nit-

Mrs. Ed McClaugherty called
on Mrs. Henry Troppy Sunday
afternoon.
Theta Upsilon of ESA had a
Christmas supper and party at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don
Lindsley. The husbands were in-
ited and following the supper the
members revealed their secret
pals with gifts.
PARENTS VISIT
Army Pvt. Salvador Cantu, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Satumino Cantu,
Sebastian, recently joined the 2nd
Armored Division in Germany.
The “Hell on Wheels” division,
which spearheaded the World
War II drive into Germany, is
now training vigorously as part
of the NATO Army.
, Cantu, a member of the 94th
Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion,
entered the Army in June and
completed basic training at Fort
Bliss.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Owens and
son are having as holiday guests,
Mrs. Owens’ parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Neal Gibson and her aunt,
Miss Mae Gibson. Also Mr.
Owens’ parents,, Mr. and. Mrs. T.
R. Owens of Washington, D. C.
Miss Gibson plans to spend the
winter with the Owens.
