The Grand Barbecue to Be Given By the
fort Worth Packlnr Company
It li Ortaln to Draw a Cr < at Jinny Texas
Farmers to fh city ttoI rmmlnent
EtocUmcn Here Yesterday
It was In the fertile brain of John It
Doxle that the scheme was first thought
of to give the farmers of Texas a gand
barbecue at the stockyards and pacKlrg
bouse The original idea was to have
this barbecue on the date of the first
slaughter but circumstances prevented
and it was postponed until the fifth of
this mouth The festivities will be held
under the auspices of th Fort Worth
packing company and will embrace a
programme mado up principally of
something good to eat and business
Those who attend will no doubt do so
with the purpose in view of getting an
ideu of the new packing houre and it is
expected that the ooasiou will be
Improved by many or the farmers to
bring in their hogs and market them
The event v illbe inude enjoyable and a
large attendance is already assured
State Laud Commissionerelect Mc

Reports furnished ua of the different
roundups of the season now brought to
a clo e are to the effect that the winter
of 1889D0 caused a heavier drift of stock
than was generally supposed to have
taken place The Dry Cimarron and
Southern Colorado cattle were found as
far South as Howell on the Rio Pecos
Stock from FI Cuervo and vicinity had

During the past ten months the ex-
ports of cattle hogs beef pork and
dairy products from the United Stales
amounted iu value to SI087580iO an
increase of it little more than 13000000
over the exports of the same period last
year
An exchange tells of an experienced
feeder of steers who says that firstclass
steers that tost twentylive cents per
hundred more than poorer ones when
buying will bring an extra dollar per
hundred wneu selling Did you ever
thiuK of that when nGered scrubs cheap
One of the most encourngiug signs in
this neighborhood is the steady improve-
ment going on iu the class of stock raised
here The young tolts cows nna hogs
show up better every fall ana the satis
fai tion felt by their owners will lead to
still further improvement Texas Pau
