Two Panhandle girls,
Patrice O’Neal and Mary
O’Neal, daughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold O’Neal
and members of the Ama-
rillo Aquactic Club, qual-
ified for competition in
the Texas Aquatic Games
to be held Saturday and
Sunday in the Perkins Ma-
tatorium in Dallas.
Mary received eighth
in the 55-yeard freestyle
race and fourth in the
110-yard freestyle race.
Only eight places were
given. By receiving fourth
Mary was named alter-
nate to the Mexico City
Regional Meet to be held
October 31, November 2
and 2.
Accompanying the girls
were their mother, Mrs.
O’Neal and sister Sha-
ron.
Tentative plans are to
participate in either a
meet at Snyder or Dal-
las Oak Club this week-
end.

Have Shower For
Children’s Home
STINNETT—The fifth
annual shower for the
Panhandle Children’s
Home was given hre
Thursday.
Hostesses were Mrs.
C.J. Oates, in whose home
the affair was given Mrs.
Ray Ownby, Mrs. Jack
Chappell, Mrs. F.M, Par-
ker and Mrs. Roy Chris-
tian.
Everyone attending
brought gifts of food,
clothing, both new and
used, and other items,
which children can use
or which could be used
for the children.
Mrs. Nell Parks
Attends Baptist
Conference
Mrs. Nell C. Parks was
in Glorieta, N.M., last
week, where she attended
a conference of the South-
ern Baptist Church, in
which Christianity and
Racial Conflict were dis-
cussed.
Keynote speaker for the
week was the Rev. Bill
Dyarl of Nashville, Tenn.
as associate in the South-
ern Baptist Christian Life
Commission, which ar-
ranged the conference.
Mrs. Parks also at-
tended a reunion of Mon-
tequma College, of which
she is a graduate.
Before returning to
Panhandle she will visit
in the home of her son,
Dave, and Mrs. Parks
and grandchildren at Rui-
doso, N.M,

American Heritage Program Is Set
For Cub Scout Meeting August 28
The American Heritage
program Pack meeting
will be Friday, at 7:30
p.m. in the First Chris-
tian Church.
Boy Scouts from Troop
1 will assist with the Am-
erican Heritage Pre-
sentation along the lines
that it was presented at
Valley Forge July 19 at
the National Scout Jam-
boree.
Slides will be shown and
explained by the Boy
Scouts who attended the
jamboree.
Cub Scouts will have
until this date to partivi-

pate in the Strengthen A-
merica’s Heritage pro-
gram by writing their
themes on “Why I Love
America”.
These themes should
be turned into Mrs. Al-
bert Wilson, or any Cub
Scout official on or be-
fore Friday. Tim per-

ing.
All boys who are eight
years of age, and who are
interested in Cub Scout-
ing, are invited to attend

ly of Stockton, Calif., left
Tuesday for Amarillo to
visit an aunt, Mrs. John
Bass, prior to returning
to her home on Saturday
She has been visiting her
grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. J.E. Weatherly, and
her father, Jim Weather-
ly, and family for most
of the summer.

the Weatherly home have
been their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Horace Booher, Euless;
grandchildren Mr. and

La., and Mrs. Weather-

Conference
Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Wilson, Charles and Hol-
ly, were in Lubbock ov-
er the week end, where
they attended a confer-
ence for the southwest
district of the Church of
Christ of Latter Day
Saints. The conference
was held Saturday and Sun
was held Saturday and
Sunday at the Lubbock
Chapel.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson
are youth directors of
the district.

Groom Family Hosts
Reunion Recently
Mrs. Margy Emery
hosted a Fraser family
reunion recently at Lake
McClellan. The family
had a picnic and a day of
visiting.
There were 57 family
members present from
Canyon, Pampa, Amaril-
lo, Fort Worth, Dallas,
Lockney, Plain view,
Groom Pleadanton, and
Wellington.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
Sparks and Sherry spent
the week end in Emperia,
Kansas where they at-
tended the funeral of her
father. Mr. Sparks re-
turned home Sunday night
and Mrs. Sparks and
Sherry spent a few days
with relatives.
A mass will be read
for Mrs. Rose Gordon,
who is sick in Fort Worth.

United States Air Force for 11 years, has
returned from a two year tour of duty in Eng-
land and has established residence in

He Will be stationed at Amarillo AFB.

Cheryl, 7, Karen, 4, and Theresa, 3, will
