Another enjoyable chicken bar-
becue in the town park laat Fri-
day evening had an attendance
of about two hundred people. Ur.
Kibble cooked the chicken and
Ton Welli and Phis Newman
cooked thoae red beans with ham
hock which everyone declared "so
good”. The ladles of the commun-
ity brought pies, cakes and all
kinds of salads, pickles and tea
After the big feast, tables for
dominoes and 43 were brought in
and a number played games This
was Just another get-to-gether of
the community. Out of town gu
eats were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ford
and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Corbett of
Duff Prairie, and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert O'Brien, Mrs. J. M. Hill
and children of Breckenridge.
Mr. Rayford Pardue has been
quite sick with tonaUitla the last
week. Those visiting in the Pardue
home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Burgess, Marilou and Bill of
Bunger, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evans
and son Allen of Irving. Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Pardue and Mr. and
Mrs. Melvin Pardue and two boys
Bud Smith of Kermitt. spent
last week here with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Smith. His fa-
ther E. L. Smith, was quite ill and
in the Graham hospital last week,
but is now at home and slowly
Improving. Mr. and Mrs. Bridges
of Breckenridge are staying with
the Smiths a few days or until
Mr. Smith recovers. Bud Smith re-
turned to his home in Kermitt
Monday afternoon.
Tom Donnell, who broke his
ankle and was in the Graham hos-
pital for awhile, is still on crutch-
es and Mrs. Donnell is doing the
driving.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Burns had
lunch for R. C. Kilgore who
Joining the Marines next week.
Those preaent were Mr mid Mrs.
James Pollock, Rusty and Keeta
of Archer City, Miss Pat Kilgore,
Ray Dean, Kenneth and Gene
Burns and Kenneth Brown.
Mr .and Mrs. Billy Joe Allen
and two children of Dallas went
to Breckenridge last Saturday
and bought a new Chevrolet car
from Irvan Louis and came back
to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Allen where they spent Saturday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Man Young had
all their children and grandchild-
ren at home Sunday except Atkins
Wright who was in Corpus Christi
with a pipe line gang who were
taking up three miles of pipe be-
fore returning home Tuesday.

Mrs. Tony Donnell and Margar-
et Ann visited her brother, Bob
Williams in Breckenridge in the
home of Mrs. Donnell’s cousin,
Mrs. Kenneth Kirkland last Fri-
day. Mr. Williams of Corpus Chr-
isti was in Breckenridge for the
day on business.

Waited Mr. and Mrs. Adam Furr
in Padgett community last Thurs
day.
Mrs. Francis White took her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Ak-
ers to Graford last Friday. Claud
who seems to be on the mend, was
a jolly attendant at the chicken
barbecue Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie French,
Charles and Charlene were called
to Conroe, Texas Sunday morning
where Mr. French’s father had
died early Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Donnell and
four children, and Mr. and Mrs.
Doc Pardue, Nelda and Johnie at-
tended the Fun Festival in Throc-
kmorton last Friday evening
where Nelda Pardue and Billy
Donnell were on the program. We
were proud the Young County In-
dians won first place in the barn
dance in the district of several
counties. u
Mrs. Lee Donnell was in ttye hos-
pital Monday and Tuesday. .

of Graham visited friends here
last Thursday.

Point visited the Will Hortons
and his aunt. Mrs. J. W. Horton

spent last Thursday with the
Adam Furr family in the Padgett
community near Olney.

visited Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Winin-
ger in Ranger Sunday.
Mrs. J. T. McDonald Hostess To
Ivan Homo Demonstration Club
On Tuesdays April 21 Mrs. Mc-
Donald entertained the Ivan club
in her home on the Ivan .road.
Mrs. McDonald used roses and
iris from her own flower garden
for the decorations. The iris which
she is very proud of, were beau-
tiful, also the roses which have
weathered the drought.
Mrs. Cox .the president, open-
end the meeting with all reading
the creed. Mrs. Audra Allen call-
ed the roll, each member answer-
ing with “where I store my win-
ter clothing.” Demonstrations
were given by Mrs. Ethel Milam
and Mrs. Loyce Hailey on storing
winter clothing and basket weav-
ing. -
Two new members, Mrs. Edgar
Corbett and Mrs. Motz Grant,
were welcomed into the club. Vis-
itors were Mrs. Guy Young and
Clay and Mrs. George ‘ Switzer.
Refreshments of soda pop and
cookies were served the follow-
ing members, Mmes. Joe Taylor,
Mabel Hall, Zohn Milam,, Oscar
Allan,; Ellen Cox, A. H. Davis,
Joe Franks, AlvimDpnnell, Loyd
Hill, Elia Hokett and the hostess,
Mrs. McDonald.
The next meeting will be with
Mrs A. H. Davis. *

fashioned pounding. Many useful
