MARK YOUR CALENDARS: WILSON HOUSE OPEN HOUSE
Preservation Dallas conducted a member survey earlier this year and formed a task force to
make recommendations based on the results. One of the findings indicated a high level of member interest
G7 in having more opportunities to see, tour and simply enjoy the Wilson House, our beautiful 1 00year-old
headquarters located at 2922 Swiss Avenue.
Although members are always welcome to visit the Wilson House during operating hours,
Preservation Dallas will now host a Wilson House Open House once a quarter from 6:00-7-00
p.m. at the Wilson House. Mark these four Monday evenings on your calendar!
September 20, 1999 * December 13, 1999 * March 20, 2000 * June 19, 2000
These informal gatherings offer a great way to socialize and discuss issues and ideas concerning preservation with others who
have a common interest. In addition, several activities will occur each time to welcome new members to the organization:
* Welcome and introductions of board members, committee chairs, and new members.
* Tour of Wilson House.
* Short orientation for new members offered in the dining room at the end of the evening
All current members are welcome. We encourage you to attend these events and bring a friend who might be interested in learn-
ing more about Preservation Dallas. Snacks will be provided by The Green Room. Join us! X
DESTINATION KNOWN: UPCOMING INTOWN OUTINGWednesday, September 29 at 6 p m
Bishop Arts Building & District Oak Cliff
408 West 8th Street
(Near Bishop Avenue) - Mapsco #54CHistoric Bishop Arts District, Preservation Dallas' next Intown Outing destination
Our September Intown Outing will tour the Bishop Arts District a largely intact former trolley-stop commercial district which retains
much of its early 20th century attractiveness and scale. We will first tour the two-story Bishops Arts Building, built in 1928 and currently
being converted into commercial/residential mixed-use. We will then make stops at some of the unique and imaginative shops in the
District, such as "Ifs, Ands & Butts" (specializing in bottled soft drinks from around the world and cigars). Following the tour we will eat
at Vitto Italian (also in the District at 316 W 7th St.). The tour is another great benefit of your membership and is free to members. If
you can join us for either or both activities in the Bishop Arts District, rsvp to Preservation Dallas at (214) 821-3290 X
