GUENGD ONE YEAR OLDER.
Mr. Paul C. Cuenod was' hon
ored on Wednesday evening be-
cause of his birthday, with
friends and relatives calling at
his home. Mrs. Cuenod served
refreshments with the birthday
cake to all who called, making it
a regular iparty.
Friends are glad to know that
Mr. Cuenod is improving after
an extended illness.
ENTERTAINS FOR SON
Mrs. Alta Powell entertained
a group of boys and girls from
the sixth grade honoring her son,
Floyd Harlan, on Tuesday after-
noon at her home on Sixth St.
The occasion was Floyd’s 12th
birthday. After tlie birthday
cake was cut and refreshments
served the group Avent to the
theatre for further courtesies
from Mrs. PoAvell and all Avished
for the honoree many more such
liappy occasions.

On Saturday evening, Novem-
ber 24th, in an impressive candle-
light service, Misses Helen and
Hazel Quebe, daughters of IT. A.
Quebe, became the brides of Af-
frecl Wiethorn and C. F. Weiss.
The double ring ceremony Avas
performed by Rev. L. G. Han-
npman in the Lutheran church.
The altar Avas beautifully deco-
rated Avith fern and white chry-
santhemums in tall baskets. The
tapers having been lighted, Mr.
Heinz Quebe played the song,
“Traumerei, ” after Avhich Mrs.
Gus Quebe sang 'the s pre-nuptial
song, “Because.” Then to the
strains of “ LoliengriinV ’ briday
chorus'the Avedding party enter-
ed. Mildred Quebe, sister of the
brides entered Avearing a dress of
blue taffeta and carrying a bou-
quet of pink carnations; then
came'Margaret Quebe, cousin 'of
the brides, dressed in pink taf-
feta, also carrying pink carna-
tions. Master Marvin Vahren-
kamp, the ring bearer, followed
and took his place Avith the
grooms and best men at the
altar. Marilyn Vahrenkamp, as
flower girl, led the Avay for the
brides, Avho entered Avith their
father, Avho gaAre them in mar-
riage. Thej'' Avere met at the
altar by the grooms and their
best men, Avho Avere Buster San-
ders, McGregor and Ben Quebe,
Jr., PlainvieAV. The ushers Avere
Gilbert Wiethorn of McGregor
Melvin Jacobs of Gatesville.
he brides, always beautiful
and charming, wer'e never more
s0 than in their Avhite satin Aved-
ding goA\uis. The gOAvns Avere
fashioned Avith a tight-fitting
bodice, long sleeves and ruffled
trains. The finger-tip length net
veils Avere held in place by a
beaded crown. They carried
Avhite Bibles Avith gardenias and
streamers of white satin ribbon.
FolloAving the impressive dou-
ble ceremony, Mrs. Quebe sang,
“T Love You Truly.” Then to
the triumphant strains of Mend-
ellshon’s Wedding March” the
bridal party left the church.
Reception
The reception Avas held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Heinz
Quebe, avIio, Avith the father of
the brides, formed the receiving
line. Miss Martha Lou Vahren-
vkamp, of Waco and Miss Gene\Ta
Quebe, of McGregor, presided at
the. brides books. The refresh-
ment table Avas spread with a
JoA'elv linen cloth, in the center
of Avhicli stood the four-tiered
wedding cake Avith eutglass can-

from the service, and on Thurs-
day, Avas guest of Miss Lyndel
Faye Boyle of Waco, for a birth-
day dinner.
Mr.^Noah Janes of Campbells-
ville, Kyi, a brother of W. P.
Janes of this city, also Mr. and
Mrs. Logan Bryant of Chicago,
a sister, spent a few days here
this A^eek in the W. P. Janes
home. This Avas the first meet-
ing of the two brothers in thirty-
five years, and twelve years for
the sister.

patients for 30 minutes intervals,
which is most interesting, but
says he Avill- be glad to be back
in Texas. During his journeys,
lie has seen the Leaning Toiver in
Pisa, Vnice, Romje. and the art1
treasures in Italy.
