RETURNING FIREMEN
WELCOMED.
The Lampasas Firemen returned
Saturday morning from Cuero where
they attended the State meeting and
were winners of the first prize of
$500.00 in the racing contest and also
succeeded in electing Chief Frank Ba-
ker as Fourth Vice President of the
association. The returning victors
were met at the train by a large num-
ber of the Lampasas citizens who
were1' there to congratulate them on
their achievements. The fire truck
was there and quite a number of the
firemen's wives and lady friends were
on the truck dressed in the firemen’s
rubber coats and helmets. The fire-
men loaded on the truck and the cars
went to the square where Mayor G. D.
Scott delivered an address of welcome
and congratulated the boys on their
victory at Cuero. Mayor Scott ex-
pressed the sentiment of the entire
citizenship in his words of praise due
this fire department for the most ef-
ficient service rendered here in pro-
tecting the lives and property of Lam-
pasas citizens at any time of day or
night, hot or cold, sunshine or rainy
weather.
In the absence of a crown, Mayor
Scott presented Chief Baker with a
beautiful bouquet, a gift from the
wife of the Mayor of Lampasas. Mr.
Baker, in a few words, expressed his
deep appreciation of the royal wel- uckj „„
come given the returning firemen and ^SeaL
spoke in the highest terms of the
4 Lampasas boys who went to the State
meet and by their untiring efforts
were able to secure the honors be-
stowed on them.
