and left stranded when the tide
went out.
There the fishermen found
them and before long the
grapevine wireless was hum

with boats. Catches from 70
to 130 pounds per fishermen
were reported, the anglers pull
ing in the fish as fast as they

I Sunday night at 7 :30.
Thu week there are four con-
tenders for the District 39 A
championship and the one lit-
tle word “ii" looms more and
more important. If any ot
♦ he following thinos happen,
and one will have to happen, a
champion teem will result.
If. during the next two week*.
Taft defeats Alice and Sinton
loses to Alice, J*U will have
won the championship even
though Aransas Pass wins over
Freer, because Taft has been
victorious over the Panthers.
By the same token. »f Taft
loses to Alice and Sinton de
feats the Coyotes, the Panthers
will get the title, having defeat
ed Sinton. The same will hold
true if Alice wins its next two
games, because of the defeat
they suffered from the Pan
thers last week.
But if Alice wins its next two
games and Freer defeats Aran
sas Pass then the champion-
ship will go to the Coyotes.
On the other hand, if both
Taft and Sinton defeat Alice
end Aranaes Pass dafeats Freer,
thus giving the three teems a
tie. the champion will be de-
cided on the number of points
netted in conference games.
At the present time. Aransas
Pass with 13 points is one
point in the Ji*d over T,,,t
who has 12 points. The pwnli
made by the Panthers include
6 against Sinton end 13 against
Alice, less the 6 points scored
against them by the Alice
squad.
Just as important, if Fieer
defeats Aransas Pass, which is
entirely possible, considering
the Panther genius for losing
easy games. Aransas Pass will
be out of the race.
Whoever wins will probably
play Mission for bi district
championship, the Valley team
at present in the lead. Aransas
Pass holds fond memories of
the upset they gave Mission in
1937 for the bi district title.
