JOHN CAMP ABNEY ACCIDEN-
TALLY SHOT WITH TARGET
John Camp Abney, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. C. Abney, accidentally shot
himself in the forehead Sunday night
while handling a 22 target at his
home. The bullet entered about the
center of his forehead and plowed a
light furrow across his skull and
came out.
The young man kept the gun near
his bed and was in the habit of shoot-
ing jay birds that congregated in the
trees around the home in the early
morning hours. He thought the gun
was unloaded and picked it up to put
some shells in it and in some way
it was discharged.
He was given medical attention at
once and while his head is very sore
it is not thought that he will suffer
any ill effects from the wound. It
was a very narrow escape from a
serious accident.

Mrs. S. A. McLean and two child-
ren, Jean and Frances of Austin, ar-
rived Sunday evening for a visit in
the home of her father, John Kirseh-
vink.

LAMPASAS COUNTY SHIPPING
BURNET COUNTY CATTLE
The Lampasas relief office is re-
ceiving their first consignment of
drought relief cattle to be handled
through their office. These are cat-
tle bought in Burnet county, and due
to the fact that Lampasas was the
nearest shipping point, they are be-
ing brought here for shipment. Coun-
ty administrator John H. Allen Jr.
was advised by the Burnet county
administrator, Fred B. Craddock, that
two hundred head would be driven to
the Lampasas shipping pens today,
Monday. One hundred and thii-ty-
one head have been checked in at this
writing. Mr. Allen advised that these
cattle will be delivered to the rail-
road to move for account of (FSRC)
Federal Surplus Relief Corporation.
TO THE VOTERS OF
LAMPASAS COUNTY
I wish to express my appreciation
of the vote given me in the primary
election and the work of friends in my
behalf. I trust that all citizens of
the county will cooperate and we can
work together for the best interests
of the county.
