Work Begins On
New Baseball Held
The Comanche Jaycees, sponsors of the annual, suc-
cessful Comanche Summer Baseball Program-—of 16 to
18 teams, have contracted for land in South Comanche,
and first work jfnt underway Wednesday toward build-
in# a new and modem Little l/ea#ue and Babe Ruth
LeaRue baseball field here.
The new park will be ready to open the season, on
or about June 1—and the improved facilities should mean
added interest in summer baseball.
Four and one-half acres of land were bought this
week from Bob Burton, with the local Junior Chamber
of Commerce paying $350 per acre for this ideally sit-
uated land. This land, which is almost level, wil] need
only about a half-day of bulldozing operations to esar
it. The site is three block* south of the South Side Groc-
ery, located on the east side of State (Goldthwaits)
Highway 1« South. <
