CONFERENCE OF SOUTHERN
GOVERNORS IN NEW ORLEANS
ON OCTOBER 25TH.

. San Antonio, Texas. Qct; 12.—Sher-
iff Tobin is lying in wait for a Black-
hander to cash a check for three hun-
dred dollars on the First National
Bank. The check was . placed at \ a
I>oint designated in a Blaek Hand let-
ter received by. Louis Kaufman, a
prominent dry goods merchant here.
The letter- demanded one thousand
’ dollar. The letter was turned over
to the sheriff, who placed the check
as a fuse, making it payable to cash,
