Beating the drums for top

the privately financed Commit-
tee of the Governing Board* of
State Colleges and Universities.
It’s membership consist* of
one representative from eMih
of the 1 !* bodies which direct
the institutions of higher
learning in Texas.
These are business men. I
They stress the economic angle
of education.
They must industrialize, they
say. to insure our future pros-j
perity. To get industry, we \
must have excellence in higher
education.
Supporting that thesis, they j
quote such authorities as Gov-

By getting your Christmas
cards and packages in the mail |
now, you can save a lot of
headaches when the full Christ-
mas rush begin*.
Here are some tips from
Brady Postmaster Mrs. Maldc
Francks on preparing your
Christmas mailings:
• Don't take chances on
mailing poorly wrapped pack-
ages. Use sturdy corrugated
mailing cartons, heavy paper,
adhesive tape and strong cord.
• Cartons containing several
gift packages should he fully
stuffed with paper to protect
the contents.
• If > "U liav e ai I ides or un-
usual size or hulk, better
cheek with the Post Office be-
fore attempting to mail them.
Limits on size and weight of
packages vary, depending on
where you mail them from.
• U an extra precaution, it
is a good idea to place an extra
label bearing both your return
address and the recipient's ad-
dress inside the package.
• Send youi ('hri tnin i mis
by first class mail, using the
attractive new 4-cent Christ-
mas stamp. When sent first-
class, your cards are delivered
quicker, and they will he for-
warded or returned if it be-
comes necessary. They also may
carry Christmas messages
along with your signature.
• 1 Hi.' 1 nil* youi return ad-
dress on every Christmas card
envelope. It is socially correct
and it is a big help to both
you and your friends in keep-
ing your mailing lists up to
date.
• To expediti deliv cry . >
cure free labels from the Post
Office which read, "For Local
Delivery" and “For Out-of-
Town Delivery." Sort your
cards into two bundles with the
— ■ ■■ addresses all facing one way.
