By Brian Shaw

The women's basketball team
will vie for position for an LSC
championship when the Wildcats
play the Texas Woman's University
Pioneers Monday at 7 p.m. in the
HPER Building In Denton.
The Wildcats scored a 96-77 win
over the Pioneers Jan. 22 in Abilene
and lead the all-time scries 12-6.
The Wildcats played at the Uni-
versity of Central Oklahoma Satur-
day at 6 p.m. in Edmond Okla.
The Wildcats entered that game
with a nine-game winning streak
their longest since the 1987-88 sea-
son when they recorded separate
winning streaks of 14 and nine
games each.
ACU coach Suzanne Fox was a
sophomore on that team.
ACU trailed the first-place team
the Angelo State University Ram-
belles by two games before Satur-
day. Each team had three games
remaining.
We'll come away
with two wins if we
keep playing like
we're playing now. '
Suzanne Fox
Fox noted that the Wildcats have
struggled at TWU's HPER Building
in recent years.
They won there last season 72-
70 on a last-second jump shot. In
1992 they lost there by one point
52-5 1 after having won 80-46 in
Moody Coliseum one week earlier.
Senior center Tamrni Julch leads
the Pioneers in scoring and re-
bounding. "The key will be slowing
her down and stopping everyone
else" Fox said. .-
The Pioneers mcanwniic wui ij
have to slow ACU sophomore for- 1i

Wildcats to face Aggies again
By Brian Shaw
Sports Editor
The men's basketball team will tangle with the
Cameron University Aggies for the fourth time this
season Monday at 8 p.m. in Lawton Okla.
Cameron University is in its first season as an inde-
pendent member of NCAA Division II.
The Aggies spent the previous six seasons as a mem-
ber of the Lone Star Conference. They lead the all-time
scries 1 1-7.
Of the three games the teams have played this season
the Aggies' only victory occurred in the only game the
teams played in Moody Coliseum.
Cameron won 84-80 in the Citgo-AFCO Wildcat
Classic Nov. 26. The Wildcats have won two neutral-
site games since then.
They defeated the Aggies 88-86 in the GTE Classic
in San Angelo Dec. 3 and 77-75 at the Drury College
tournament in Springfield Mo. Jan. 8.
The Wildcats have lost the last four games they have
played against Cameron University in Aggie Gymnasi-
um CU's basketball facility.
ACU coach Tony Mauldin said: "This is one of those
games you almost wish you didn't have to play. But it's
nice to be able to play outside of the conference ... and
not have to worry about the pressure of the rankings."
The results of Saturday night's game at the Universi-
ty of Central Oklahoma were unavailable at press lime.
ACU will play at Angelo State University Saturday
at 8 p.m.
The Wildcats need victories in both those games to
assure themselves of playing a quarterfinal tournament
game in Moody.
