obcrt Hall 1951 graduate will
receive Hie 1993 Outstanding
Alumnus bronze plaque at noon
Monday during the Alumni Lun-
cheon in Scruggs Gymnasium.
The luncheon will feature speak-
er Homer Gainer a member of the
Board of Trustees whom Hall spec-
ified. Dr. Roycc Money president
of the university will present the
plaque during the luncheon.
"He has demonstrated all of the
qualities that we look for among
former students of the school" Said
Dr. William Tcaguc chancellor of
the university.
He added that Hall has been
active in ministries around the
world successful in business and
involved in the Jasper community.
Teaguc also said Hall is an active
'He's certainly one
that I had no
hesitancy in
recommending. '
Dr. William Teague
alumnus and a devoted teacher who
"has breadth of wisdom in all that
he docs."
According to a press release
Money said: "Robert Hall and his
wife Mary Ann have served Abi-
lene Christian University faithfully
and with distinction all their lives.
"The ACU Alumni Board has
singled the Halls out from ACU's
more than 44000 alumni for their
distinctive role in promoting ACU
and their lives of service to the
Lord."
Patrice Natnlicchio coordinator
of alumni affairs said "Every per-
son who has found out that he is
Alumnus of the Year has had noth-
ing but the most admitation and
respect and the best things to say
about him that he is just a man
of God in everything he does."
She also said Hall requested that
the hymn "To God Be the Glory"
be sung during the luncheon.
"I think that says a lot about him.
He doesn't want the glory. He
wants God to have the glory in all
of his accomplishments" Natalic-
chio said.
Money announced Hall's award
at a luncheon during Homecoming
weekend in October. Hall said he
did not know the reason for the lun-
cheon before he arrived but Money
told him to attend.
As he he entered Hall heard
Money announce the Outstanding
Alumnus. "It began to dawn on me
that he was talking about me. It was
a surprise and a shock" Hall said.
He also said the award is an
honor because many distinguished
alumni still work'wlth ACU. Hall
said he was "very pleased and real-
ly humbled in the sense of 'Why
me?'"
Tcaguc knew Hall as a student at
ACU. Hall also served as a board
member when Tcaguc was presi-
dent of the university.
"I think it's an excellent choice
and he's certainly one that I had no
hesitancy in recommending"
Tcague said. "He's been a leader
among our alumni."
Hall said served as the president
of the Alumni Association from
1972-73 and has served as a mem-
ber of the Board of Trustees since
1972.
During his presidency of the
Alumni Association he presented
the Outstanding Alumnus award to
other people.
Hall said he thinks this award is
the most important award for an
alumnus of the university.
Nomination forms state the pur-
pose for choosing an Outstanding
Alumnus; the award "provides
timely recognition of a lifetime
achievement of an individual who
has brought honor to the university
through personal and professional
excellence service to the universi-
ty the church and the community"
Natalicchio said.
"Basically it's to recognize
someone every year who not only
brings honor to the university but
brings honor to God which is what
the university is all about" she
said. "It's just a way to give back to
them.
"We send nomination forms out
to all the ACU boards to the facul-
ty and staff and to all former recipi-
ents" Natalicchio said.
She also said that people who do
not receive forms can call the
Alumni Office at Ext. 2622. They
cither will send nomination forms
or take the nominations over the
phone.
