Turkey threatens to sue for a separate peace,
thus showing that in the final analysis she pre-
fers to let the Allies rather than Germany pick
her lames.
There are said to be 1,500,000 automobile fans,
10,000,000 lutsehull fans, 20,000,000 movie fans,
and a few (mini leaf fans—the latter, incidentally,
of some practical use in the world.
How ran the United States remain neutral and
lend the Allies one billion dollars with which to
prolong the war? The Favorite is opposed to the
loon nnd positively refuses to let the Allies or the
Kaiser have one “thin dime" of its surplus cash.

OUR HANK ROLL THREATENED.
The editor of The Weekly Texas Citizen is
going to sue Sherwood Spotts, editor of the
Hon ham Favorite, and up to a few days ago
president of the Northeast Texas Press Asso-
ciation, for ubout ’steen million dollars dam-
ages, because of a statement appearing re-
cently in the Favorite as a comment on an
item by State Press in the Dallas News with
reference to the press meeting at Commerce
last week. The comment fully explains itself
and is herewith reproduced:
“Come along, State Press, and bring the
rest of the Dallas ‘gang’ with you. We have
been ussured of the ‘eats,’ and if you think
Fryar’s speech will interefere with the at-
tendance we will eliminate him and as a sub-
stitute put Editor Moyer of Money Grove on
for a song and dance.”
If that statement does not call for a libel
suit of immense proportions, “pistols and cof-
fee for two,” or something else, then we know
nothing about when a man is slandered. The
editor of The Citizen can sing and dance all
right, and his song is like unto that of a Ca-
ruso, and his dancing as light as that of a
fairy, but he dots not propose to sing and
dance for a herd of common newspaper men,
and Spotts ought to have known better than
to suggest the change in the program. If
Editor Spotts will meet Editor Moyer at the
Clarksville fair hi will settle the matter then
and there, in the presence of Editor Fryar.
—Honey Grove Citizen.
The editor of the Favorite will meet the editor
of the Citizen at the Clarksville fair on any day
he may name, and settle all differences between
us in the presence of Col. Fryar, he of crawfish
farm fame. We want it understood, however, that
we do not drink coffee and neither do we tote a
pistol, hut we will go to Clarksville armed with a
bologna sausage and a lightning bug, and if we
do not succeed in running the Honey Grove editor
ragged, we will be willing to make a public apology
for all we have said about the Honey Grove editor
and his town.
The following story in reference to a Denver
judge’s lecture to a drunkard is going the rounds
of the press:
“Give your wife $2 to buy a gallon of whis-
key. There are 69 drinks in one gallon. Buy
your drinks of no one but your wife, and by
the time the first gallon is gone she will have
$4 to put in the hank and .$2 to start in bus-
iness again. Should you live ten years and
continue to buy from her, and then die with
snakes in your boots, she will have enough
to bury you decently, educate your children,
buy a bouse and lot, marry a decent man and
quit thinking about you.”
If a young man has genius, hard work will
bring it out and make it shine.—Bonham Fa-

That is a fact, and without the hard work the
genius is likely to go to waste. No matter how
much there is in a man, if he is of a tired turn it
isn’t likely that any of it will ever get out.—Fort

From Rev. W. M Williams, who Inn

ture of a “scoop,” as no paper thut we

It appears that the lower strata of
Greasers in the eity of San Antoni,)
conceived the brilliant idea of storm-
ing the Alamo another time, rii’ iiK
the Mexican flag over it, and pro-
claiming Mexican Jurisdiction in the
city of Tamaleville. Nor was this all.
The flag of Mexico was to be raised
on the court house and all other pub-
lic buildings!
This idea, which must have origi
nuted out there south of the eity in
the lunatic asylum, was going to be
carried out by a bunch who had pro-
cured shotguns with which to enfoice
their demands, right in the very face
of the United States army, or a por-
tion of it. stationed at Fort Sam Hous-
ton!
Be it said to the credit of ttie more
intelligent Mexicans, this brilliant
sortie was horn in the brains of some
of the more Ignorant, and it may also
be udded that Uncle Sam was not slow
in getting busy. He had his boys
picketed around the arsenal, and all
over the city soldiers were on guard,
thus frustrating the second storming
of the Alamo in its very incipiency.

Many people look upon
glasses as a last resort;
they refuse to give them
proper consideration in
the matter of relieving
headaches and nervous

appears! You would not
necessarily have to wear
