THEY GO INTO ORGANIZATION
Addresses Were Made, Resolutions Passed
and Plans Made for the Future
of the County.
In accordance to a cdll issued some
time ago for a meeting of the road
overseers, connty commissioners and
citizens cf the county, there gathered
together in the county court house
a throng of people from all parts of
the county to participate in the dis-
cussion of this most important ques-
tion.
The meeting was called to order at
10 o'clock in the county court room
by Judge Tom C. Bradley, and a tem-
porary organization was effected by
electing W. A. Spangler chairman
and F. M. Gibson secretary.
On motion. N, B. Smith, O. W. Mc-
Lennan. John Williamson, R. A. Car-
son and F. M. Gibson were appointed
a committee on permanent organiza-
tion and Instructed to report at 1
o’clock p. m.
There being quite a number of over-
seers present they were called out
and discussed the condition of the
roads and suggested improvements,
etc., until the time came for taking
recess for dinner.
AFTERNOON SESSION.
At 1 o’clock the meeting was called
to order in the district court room by
the chairman and thp committee on
permanent organization submitted the
following report:
We. your committee on permanent
organization beg leave to report as
follows: We recommend that the
temporary organization be made per-
manent and that the officers be con-
tinued.
We further recommend that each
commissioner’s precinct organize a
good roads league by inviting all the
overseers in their respective precincts
and all the people living along the
roads to meet at some point designat-
ed in said call for the purpose of or-
ganizing and taking such steps as
they deem best for the lietterment of
the public roads in their respective
precincts. And we further reccom-
mend that the following persons be
appointed to tail said meeting for
their respective precincts:
Commissioners’ precinct No. 1—W.
A. Spangler; No. 2. C. C. Miles; No. 3.
S. L. Erwin; No. 4, Milton Smith.

amount of work needed to-be done on
our public roads, and the insufficiency

ment purposes, in addition to the 15
cents now levied for general road j
purposes, and that said taxes when :
levied and collected he apportioned to

portion to the amount paid in by each i
as shown by their assessment rolls.
And that all other funds belonging to I
the road fund be disbursed on the
same bajtis.
The following resolution was unan-
imously adopted:
Resolved, That our senator and
members of the next legislature arc

road law of Fannin county, pass* d by
the 28th legislature, and approved*

shall also be a practical road builder
as county road superintendent.
It shall be the duty of the said
county road superintendent to lay out
routes, make maps, profiles, levels,

the high school building has been or-
ganized into a literary society under
the direction of Mr. King. This socie-
ty meets bi-weekly. The program last
Friday was one of unusual mem.
