Spring Club Socials Continue
With Banquets Other Outings
Spring activities for the cnmpus
social clubs began last week with
a banquet and four other social
events.
- 'Ko Jo Kai had an Informal
aoclal at the Range Riders Ranch
House. A Western theme was
carried out by the use of rail
fence wagon wheels and kero-
sene lanterns. The new members
prepared the food and gave a pro-
gram followed by a game period
and a short devotional. Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis Fulks sponsored the
group.
Delta Theta held a slumber
party in Nelson Parlor last Thurs-
day. The new members gave a
program consisting of several
songs and sketches. Refreshments
were prepared and served by the
new members.
The crowning of Marlon Wal-
ton as Queen of Knights high-
lighted the.first Knight Banquet
which was held in the Sands
Hotel last Friday.
Dr. Frank Rhodes of the history
department spoke on some little
known facts of knighthood in the
middle centuries.
After the crowning of Miss
Walton a sophomore from
Brownsville the club song was
sung. The group was honored at
a reception in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Leo Herndon at 526 E.N.
21st St. Mrs. Herndon is the sister
of Knight W. G. Black.
Galaxy held a breakfast last
Thursday at 5 a.m. in State Park.
Freshman Wins
Writing Contest
Jennean Kuhnley Morlarty N.
M. freshman was recently named
one of the ten winners of the 1957
"Time of Your Life" story con-
test. The contest was open to over
one thousand delegates attending
the National 4-H Club Congress
In Chicago last December. Jen-
ncan's story was chosen along
with four other girls and five
boys. She will receive a 19-jewel
wrist watch from the contest don-
or the Elgin National Watch
Company.
Jennean received an expense-
paid trip to Chicago 'from the
Simplicity Pattern Company after
being the state winner in the 1957
Dress Reveiw.
Dean Issues 150
Traffic Tickets
There have been an estimated
150 traffic violations this semes-
ter according to Dean Beau-
champ who is in charge of that
phase of campus discipline. Most
of these have been for parking
in the red zones and in the faculty
parking lot.
The number of violations
Is increasing and some of the
violators have failed to comply
to the notice on the front of the
tickets that requires the offender
to come to Dean Bcauchamp's
office in 24 hours. Failure to com
ply with this notice will result in
a summons to his office and an
additional fee.
TRY
The eight novas prepared the
meal for about 90 people. Dana
Bennett junior from Hillsboro
and Phil Carson senior from
Lawton Okla. sang and played
the guitar. The new members
were introduced and the break-
fast was closed with a short de
votional.

By Defeating
Zellner Dormitory claimed the
victory of first division in the
girls' intramural basketball game
Monday night after defeating the
PEMM Club 16-6. Zellner recov-
ered the crown won by Ko Jo Kai
last year.

Joe Marshall minister of tho
Jayton congregation and instruc-
tor of English and golf coach at
ACC announced the schedule of
speakers on the theme "Building
Up the Local Church."
Tonight Dr. Paul Southern
head of the Bible department
will conclude the lectureship with
the discussion "The Strong Chris-
tian Home." Last night Carl
Spain associate professor of
Bible spoke on "Building Up the
Local Church Through Its Bible
Teaching Program."
Dr. Rex Kyker head of the
speech department and director
of summer school opened the
lectureship Monday night with a
lesson on "Personal Evangelism."
Weldon Bennett associate profes-
sor of Bible and ex-missionary to
Germany talked on "The Mis-
sionary Program of the Church."
Vice President W. R. Smith
professor of religious education
spoke Wednesday night on the
"Leadership of tho Local
Church." This was Smith's second
lectureship speech within a week.
He spoke last week at the East-
land lectureship on "The Chris
tian Home."
Hat Designer Speaks
To Home Ec Students
Mrs. Ethel May Williams a hat
designer was the guest speaker
for the Ellen H. Richards Club
Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Williams who owns and
operates a hat shop in her homo
at 1702 Highland gave a demon
stration on making hats. She
brought different styles of hats
for the girls to try on and helped
them to decide which style was
right for them.

singing of the club song closed
the event.
Win Tourney
PEMM Club
ond. McDonald Dormitory con-
quered Ko Jo Kai 18-9 to win
third place.
The winners were determined
by playing a round robin tourna-
ment in two divisions. After three
games Monday night the top two
teams in each division moved in-
to the elimination consolation
tournament bracket which deter-
mined tho winner.
If a complete team docs not
appear for a contest it must for-
fiet the game to the opposing
team.

Alpha Chi Meet
Moved to April
"Snow on the outside and
measles on the inside" stated Dr.
Paul C. Witt head of the natural
science department "resulted in
postponement of the regional
meeting of Alpha Chi."

burne Danny Anders senior from
Seagoville Dr. Frank Pack pro-
fessor of Bible and religious edu-
cation and local sponsor of Alpha
Chi and Dr. Witt were to repre-
sent the ACC chapter of Alpha
Chi at El Paso March 14-15. An
epidemic of measles in the dormi-
tories of Texas Western College
where the delegates were to stay
and heavy snows in El Paso
necesltatcd the postponing of the
meeting.
The new date for the annual
regional meeting is tentatively
set for the first weekend in April.
