their yearly mix-up.
Tho Wildcat touchdown came late
in tho game after n series of end
runs by Elbert Anderson. He car-
ried the mail over the line for the
A. C. C. team in a slashing run over
tho enemy's right side for six yards.
The Hill Billies scored in the sec-
ond frame after blocking a punt
picked up the ball nnd ran ten yards
to cross the goal. Baldwin was do
ing the punting for tho Cats and
Pete Roach blocked the attempt.
Tho exhibition was given before
an audience of more than four thou-
sand fifteen hundred of which were
special guests of Abileno Christian

A tentative date of Tuesday after-
noon November 27 has been set for
the first intramural football game
which will bo between the Brand-
Bronco team and the Ministerial coun-
cil team.
Under the sponsorship of the In-
tramural council made up of Wcr
Routh Buck Howell and 1 Addlng-
ton severnl intramural teams will
play scheduled games between
Thanksgiving nnd the Chrlstmns holi-
days. Three organizations have already
organized and started training a se-
lected team from their ranks.
As yet the method of finding the
winner of the Intramural tourney ha3
not been definitely determined but it
is probable that cither a Round-Robin
or an elimination system will decide
the victor.
The teams must be made up of men
who will qualify according to the
rules of eligibility set up by the coun-
cil. Organizations arc not allowed
to draft new players and all candi-
dates for cither varsity or freshman
football are ineligible for any intra-
mural eleven.
The Journalists obtained the jump
on the other teams by starting train-
ing earlier by two or three days;
however tho Ministers hnve plenty
of husky material nnd ono or two of
them have seen service in junior or
senior colleges "before their entrance
in Hardin-Slmmons.

The McMurry Indians defeated the
Southwestern university Pirates Sat-
urday afternoon in the high school
stadium 13 to 0 with Red Jefferies
leading both the offensive and the
defensive for the victors. The con-
ference win for McMurry was the
first in the four starts made this
year.
Jefferies was all over the pirato
ball carriers making most of the tac-
kles. The enemy's plays almost died
in the making ns he made his shoe-
string grabs of the ball-totcrs. His
openings on offensive plays were a
mnjor factor in allowing his team-
mates to plough through the line for
nearly twenty first downs.
The McMurry - Southwestern en-
gagement was the twenty-seventh
consecutive gave nt right guard for
the plunging linesman without re-
lief. Conference championoship hopes for
the Pirate crew toppled as tho
Redskins crushed them. The loss for
Soouthwestcrn cinched the title for
the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets.

Taking their last. fling nt football
four Cowboys tonight will be playing
the last gamo of their gridiron ca-
reers for Hardin-Slmmons against
Austin college. Captain Scatter Win
ters Jimmy Neely Wer Kouth nnu
Otto Rhome are the finalists.
There's always something slightly
sad nnd something slightly fierco
about n clash that rings down the
season curtain. Men who are play-
ing their final gamo are somehow in-
spired to turn in one last great per-
formance before writing finis. Men
who will bo back in tho line-up an-
other year usually give their best in
a gamo of abandon becauso they arc
glad that tho hardships of practico
are over and they want to "cash-in"
on their last chanco to shine before
the next season rolls around.

Coming from behind the Texas
College of Mines grldsters overcame
the first quarter lead of the Hardin-
Simmons Cowboys nnd won a hard-
fought battle on the Miners' gridiron
Saturday afternoon November 17
by a score of 13 to 3.
The H-S Ranchers took the lead
early in the first quarter with a drop
kick from the 10 yard line by Cap-
tain Scatter Winters. A Miners'
fumble allowed the Cowhands to push
the ball to tho 11 yard marker before
the drive was stopped nnd Winters'
drop kicked for the only score of the
Cowboys.
Taking the kick off after the field
goal the Miners drove steadily down
the field through a consistent run-
ning nnd aerial attack and account-
ed for a touchdown and extra point.
A passing combination Wilson to
Walker accounted for the touchdown
and much of the ground gaining on
the sustained Muckers' drive. Wil-
son plnying an outstanding game for
the College of Mines drop kicked the
extra point.
Late in the third quarter the Min-
ers accounted for another touchdown
on an aerial raid. Most of the third
quarter was fought on even terms
but in tho last few minutes the Muck-
ers pushed deep into Hnrdln-Sim-mons
tenitory where a toss from
Krutilck to Wilson accounted for tho
finnl score of tho game. Wilson's
drop kick for extra point failed.
A spasmodic Cowboy eleven was
out played throughout the encounter
but put up a stubborn battle from
the beginning of the game.
Henry Milby 'defensive fullback
was the outstanding player for the
Ranchers smearing end runs and line
plays and throwing tho Miners for
loss after loss. Milby also showed
up occasionally on tho offensive in n
line plunge.
Buck Howell fleet halfback turn-
ed in the best offensive game for the
Cowhands. On several end runs he
accounted for most of the ground
gained by the Cowboys but wns given
little real support.
In the line Calloway Sesser nnd
Winters were outstanding plnying
the best defensive game for the Ran-
chers line. Tyler's punting wns a
feature of tho game and continually
carried the Miners back into midfield
from immediate scoring danger.

Austin college started the .1034 race
at a rather slow pace but in tho last
few weeks this institution which us-
ually fights it out with Trinity for
tho Texas conference cellar hos been
coming ahead fast. If tho Cowhands
are to beat the Kangaroos they nre
due to stage an uphill fight all the
way.
Of recent thero is a trend among
sport writers to mako it easy on
themselves at the task of picking
winners by abolishing the point sys-
tem altogether and just mention tho
name of tho team they think is duo
to win that week. Wo nro of tho
opinion tho old-fangled way is better.
