CORPUS CHRISTI
FIRST NATIONAL BANK BUYS
PROP. OCCUPIED BY HOUGHTON
One of the most important real es-
tate transactions in the city for some
time past was the consummation of the
sale of the business property now oc-
cupied by J. F. Houghton, corner
Commercial street and Goodnight ave-
nue, owned by Felder & Ramming, of
Wichita Falls, Texas, to the First
National Bank of Aransas Pass. The
property is 50 x 140 feet on which is
a double two story frame building
which lias been occupied by Mr.
Houghton for many years for grocer-
ies and ship chandleriug. It is cen-
trally yoeated and is a desirable piece
of property in every way.
“We did not buy it for an invest-
ment," said L. T. Ayres, cashier of
the Mrst National Bank.” but acquired
it for the. purpose of some time in the
future erecting a permanent home for
the bank. While conditions appear to
be rather quiet at present, the city of
Aransas Pass is really in better con-
dition than ever before, notwithstand-
ing the many adversities of the past
eight years. We are very optimistic
of the future of the city and port and
we believe -we are wisely preparing for
our future needs.”
