Are you staying in Abilene this
summer or planning several trips
back? If you are dont worry;
there will be several events going
on to keep you entertained.
Kicking off summer is the
Western Heritage Classic May 6-
8 which is a rodeo held every
year in Abilene. If you enjoy
horse shows and rodeos the
Taylor County Expo Center will
frequently be hosting them
throughout the summer. If you
are in the mood to catch a concert
without having to travel to Dallas
or San Antonio The Taylor
County Expo Center will be host-
ing a Pat Green concert on May
15.
Artwalk will be held several times
throughout the summer. This
event takes place monthly and
highlights Abilene's local artwork.
The Paramount will also be spon-
soring several wonderful events.
The first one takes place June 25-

Abilene Summer Offers
27 and is a live performance of
the Broadway musical Ragtime.
Pat Green in concert one of

Abilene this summer
In July they will also be hosting
Yankee Doodle Dandy a classic
film.
In Nelson Park on the Fourth of
July there will be a major display
of fireworks which can be seen
all over Abilene. Also in Nelson
Park during the summer The
Abilene Zoo will host several
events. First will be the Zoo's
annual "Zoo Day" which will

take place May 1st followed by
"Zoolute to Dyess Air Force
Base"; for this event all military
personnel will be admitted into
the zoo for free. Later in the sum-
mer the zoo will host
"Wildflower Day" on June 12
and on July 24tn the zoo will host
"Zoo Serenade" which provides
live musical performances at the
zoo. Another noteworthy aspect
about the zoo in the summertime
is "Sunset Safari" which means
that the zoo is open until 9 PM
every Thursday.
The summer will culminate with
the return of school and West
Texas Fair & Rodeo September
10-18.
Of course you can always go for
a swim at the city's many public
pools race go-carts play minia-
ture golf go bowling or play a
game of paintball at Spinnerz.
There is something in Abilene for
all people of all different interests
so find one you like and come on
out.
