Bureau of Public Telations
The Women's- Interests Section, War Department Bureau of public Relations,
of which Miss Margaret S. Banister is Chief. is holding a series of regional
conferences for the state leaders of the 36 national women's organizations
represented on its Advisory Council.
The purpose of these meetings is to establish contact with the
leaders of organized women' s groups in the various states in order
to acquaint them with some of the pressing problems which will
face the Army and the country in the coming months and to secure
their cooperation in promoting a program designed to disseminate
information about these problems to their local units and members.
The subjects to be discussed at the meetings will center around .
the requirements for continued prosecution of the war until final
victory; the problems of personnel roadjustment following victory
in Europe and of demobilization at the conclusion of the war; and
the many problems of returning soldiers and their families.
The all-day meetings will open with morning sessions at 10 am.,
at which their will be speeches by the Commanding General of the
Service Command or a rankin, staff officer, a representative of
the Surgeon General' s Office, and other officers attached to the
Command or the Tfar Department Bureau of Public Relations. Adjourn-
mant for luncheon will be at 12:30 p.r.
The meetings will reconvene at 2 p.m. The afternoon s ssions will
include speeches and an executive session for discussion by the,
delegates of problems brought out during the morning, nd methods
by which information about theso topics cn b.. integtd with the
organizations' programs. Miss Banistir will preside at all sessions.
Attendance: The State presidents or designed St.t leaders of Advisory
Council organiza-tions will be invited to the con'foronc E, one rep-
resentative of each organization from each st te withi an Army
Service Command0. In addition, National and region 1 of-'icers will
be invited as well as the heads of local units in th:; citis in
which the meetin-s take place. InTitations to the m,.tings eill
be issued by the "Tar Department from lists rec iv d from the Ta-
tional headquarters of each Advisory Council organization.
Locations: Meetings will be herd in each of the nine Army Service Command
headquarters cities and in order to save travel for those attend-
ing, the four largest Service Commands are bein, broken up into
