Suzanne expressed the commit-
tee's desire to go above and be-
yond the $1000 goal. "Whether
we realize it or not Hardin-Sim-mons
has played what may very
well be the most important role
in our lives. Surely each student
should be willing to give some-
thing that will make us even more

bought at an early date which will
bring the total seating capacity
to about 275. This new furniture
together with the new charging
desk installed just this week
will greatly add to the appear-
ance of the library and to the
comfort and convenience of fac-
ulty and students."
She pointed out that the re-
ciprocal agreement between the
libraries of ACC McMurry and
H-SU make it possible for faculty
and students of any one of the
institutions to use the books and
facilities of the libraries of the
other institutions. The library
also offers its services and facili-
ties free to the general public.
Citizens of both Abilene and
West Texas make use of this
library she added.
' "In the years since the Hardin-
bimmons University Library was
begun" Miss Willoughby said
"administrative officials and
friends have brought to the
library a long list of gifts and
valuable collections." She pointed
out the James B. Simmons for
whom H-SU was named library
and donations from the personal
library of Eugene Holman chair-
man of the board of Standard Oil
of New Jersey and an H-SU ex-
student. Only recently several hundred
books were given from the Dr.
E. B. Atwood Library. "The uni-
versity" Miss Willoughby added
"is always interested in fine
friendship and interest which
prompts individuals to help in
building a collection worthy of a
first class university library."
