Cowboy with a team-high 16.1 scoring
average and 7.1 rebounds a game. His

hit 12 of 19 shots from the floor and five of
six from the line.
THE COWBOYS-CHIEFS game was
played before 2000 spectators in Nor-
theast's Ewing Coliseum. The underdog
Cowboys drew the support of the largely
hometown Monroe La. crowd and battled
back from a 15-point second half deficit to
within two points on three occasions.
OCU roared off to
an 8-0 start as Hill
the NCAA's .No. 4
scorer scored six of
those points. The
Chiefs built a 12-
point advantage at
10:12 21-9. and again
at 5:36 on Marion

brought the Cowboys back into the game
late in the half with outside and tur-
naround Jumpers cutting the score to 38-33
before the Chiefs scored the last four
points to take a 46-35 lead at halftime.
OCU LED by 15 with 17:43 to play but
from that point the Cowboys gradually
clipped points off that lead until Brown's
three-point play and Dabney's two free
shots at 2:44 sliced OCU's lead to 80-78.
Jimmy Claunch hit two free throws with 52
seconds left to make it 86-84 and Dabney's
rebound shot made it 88-86 with just seven
seconds to play.
The Cowboys called a time-out but were
slapped with a technical for not having any

rebounded and H-SU was forced to foul
Harold Jones. Jones made the final score

HSU falls three times by one
If the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys could
figure out a way to score the last run of a
ballgame they'd be in pretty good shape.
The University of Texas extended H-
SU's losing streak to three games Tuesday
by nipping the Cowboys 3-2 and 2-1 in extra
innings at UT's Disch-Falk Stadium. Prior
to the twin loses to the Longhorns South-
western rallied for a 4-3 victory in the top
of the seventh inning on Gordon Urbanek's
pinch-hit two-run homer.
THE TWO wins by Texas duplicated the
Longhorns' feat over the Cowboys the
previous season but again UT had to
struggle for its prizes.
In the first game senior lefthander
Larry Martindale checked Texas on seven
hits orte walk and just two earned runs in 7
2-3 innings of work. The winning hit for
