HSU BRAND
The Baptist Student Union of
HSU will sponsor the first "Big-
Step" extension trip the weekend
of Nov. 15.
The trip will include working in
churches In Marfa Alpine Ft.
Davis Marathon and other
churches in the Big Bend area of
south Texas.
Students are needed to work In
teams for the trip which will give
opportunities to work in churches
conducting services. Preachers
singers musicians and persons to
give testimonies will be needed for
the weekend. Anyone interested in
attending should contact Jana
Watson at ext. 255.
A Student Foundation coffee
will be held Nov. 7 from 9:30-10:30
a.m. in the cafeteria. All students
parents alumni faculty and ad-
ministration are Invited to attend.
Student Foundation will also be
conducting tours throughout the
weekend as well as providing a
booth in Moody Center from which
orange orders may be made for the
annual Orange Picking Trip to be
held Feb. 6-8. The money earned
from the oranges goes to Student
Foundation scholarships which in
the past have helped many deserv-
ing students.
The Alumni Association is spon-
soring a dessert part tomorrow
evening following the final perfor-
mance of the All-School Sing.
Cake pie punch and coffee will be
served at the party which will be
held In cafeteria in Moody Center.
Tickets for the event are on sell
for only one dollar In the Alumni
Office. Tickets will also be sold in
the lobby of Moody Center tomor-
row morning. A sell out crowd is
expected for the event.
The Abilene YMCA Is sponsoring a
ski trip on Feb. 13-16. The group
will leave on Friday and return on
the following Monday.
The group will travel to Red
River NM. and the cost will be
$150 plus meals. A special dis-
count is available for those
students bringing their own skis.
Details about the trip are
available through Mike Osborn at
677-8144.
New hours have been set for the
nurse's office. The medical facility
will now be open on weekdays
from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30
to 2 p.m.
Several HSU faculty members
and administrators are featured as
biographees In the newly released
Who's Who In the South and
Southwest (17th edition). Faculty
members listed in the publication
include Dr. Howard L Balsley Dr.
Irol W. Balsley Dr. Julian C.
Bridges Dr. Carol D. Halro Dr.
Wanda R. Herndon Dr. Kenneth R.
Jacobs and Dr. Andy J. Patterson.
The new edition also lists Dr. Wins-
ton C. Beard Dr. Jesse C. Fletcher
Dr. Rupert N. Richardson and Dr.
Elwln L Sklles as biographees of
the South and Southwestern
regions who have sketches
appearing In the 41st edition of
Who's Who In America.

Beta Beta Beta honorary
biological science society in-
ducted five new members on Oct.
13. Those students inducted into
the society included Marlies
Johnson Patty Winter Hamish
Buntain Dewey Winkles and David
Holley. Johnson and Winter
became active members while the
other became associate members.

a recent geology trip to the Guadalupe Mountains.
An exhibit of the work of profes-
sional photographer George Tuck
an HSU graduate of 1965 will be
displayed in the Richardson
Library's Duffy Auditorium tomor-
row from 1-3 p.m.
Tuck was recipient of the
George S. Anderson award for
outstanding male graduate at
HSU. He is currently a professor in
the School of Journalism at the
University of Nebraska.
There he was awarded a faculty
development grant from the univer-
sity in 1977 to do research in
Europe for the academic year.
Teaching a course in documentary
photography earned him an award
for most Innovative course In 1976
from the North American Associa-
tion of Summer School-
Administrators. He also received
the distinguished teaching award
this year from the university.
Tuck will speak to the HSU mass
communications classes today.
He will also be showing slides of
his photography.
