Night Hunters
Pay Big Fines
For Two Deer
Austin. Oct 34—Two deer
hunters in Comal county last
week learned it doesn’t pay
to headlight deer. They were
caught by the game warden
with two buck deer already
skinned out. a headlight and
two scope equipped rifles
They lest the meet, the guns
and the equipment, and paid
fines of $230 each.
A warning was issued this
week by J. B Phillips, assist-
ant director of law enforce-
ment of the Game and Yteh
Commission, against head-
light shooting, hunting from
automobiles and roadside
shooting
“Game wardens are work-
ing day and night right near
watching out for those game
violators, ** Captain Phillips
said. “Sometimes they are
given valuable Ups by law-
abiding persona. Most of the
time, however, they happen
on these violators while pe-
trolling beck roads ’*
Valuable assistance also is
given to wardens by other
peace officers. Very frequent-
ly sheriffs’ deputies, highway
patrolmen and even city po-
licemen apprehend violators
with gam# in their cars. They
immediately radio the game
wardens who make the cam.
Fines are then assessed In
court.
