Description: Photograph of the Arlington Police/Fire Station at 401 W. Main Street taken in 1953. It shows four police cars and two fire vehicles parked in front of the building with an officer or a firemen beside each vehicle and two people standing in the front entrance. This photograph was taken from the Arlington Police Department Commemorative Book, 1994. This building also housed the jail and a courtroom. Later, in 1964, the Police Department moved to a newer station at 717 W. Main Street.

Description: Photograph of Constable Albert Austin sitting on the back of a truck loaded with a moonshine still. He has a bottle of confiscated whiskey in each hand. This picture was in the 1984 Arlington Police Commemorative Book.

Description: Photograph of a view of the front of the City of Arlington Police Training Center located at 6000 West Pioneer Parkway. The building opened in 1980. The black and white version of the picture was used in the APD Commemorative Book, 1994. The APD operates its own Police Academy out of the Training Center. The first class graduated in June 1990.

[APD ORBIS history in Arlington]

Description: Photograph of a page from the 1984 Arlington Police Commemorative Book that explains the history of ORBIS, Arlington's first speed detection device.
