H.T. Kealing

Description: Portrait of a man, labeled "Prof. H. T. Kealing" in handwritten text at the bottom of the photograph. H.T. Kealing (1860 - 1918) was a principal, teacher, writer, editor, and distinguished Methodist Episcopal layman. He was among the first generation of blacks to attend school during the Reconstruction. Kealing Junior High School in Austin was named for him.
