Denton Fire Department

Description: Exterior view of the Denton Fire Department on West Oak Street. There are a number of unidentified men standing in front of fire station along with two horse-drawn buggies. On June 3, 1879 members of the Denton Joint Stock Company entered into an agreement to have the red brick building erected by one of the partners, a Mr.Luinis V. (L.V.) Brown. According to an article that appeared in the Denton Record-Chronicle, on March 2, 1940, the building was razed by the Works Progress Administration in 1940; materials from the building were used in erecting a municipal storeroom on the city's lot just west of the municipal building.
