They have just caught and arrested some smugglers of sotol, a drink like tequila, in the town of Shafter, Texas. It was a dangerous job and many border patrolmen were wounded or died in the line of duty.

Description: Photograph of two men from the Border Patrol in 1930. They are wearing their uniforms and standing in front of their vehicle used to apprehend criminals. The man on the left is Miles Scanall and the one on the right is Ogden. Ogden was fatally wounded when trying to handcuff some aliens on his own.
