[Ranchers of Davis Mountains]

Description: In this photograph, 10 men dressed in casual clothing are sitting or kneeling in a semi-circle while they eat. Plates, utensils and guns are visible in front of them. At least two other men are standing behind the others, near the group of 5 or 6 horses which all appear to be saddled. All of the men are wearing hats. To the right of the photo there is some sort of wagon or buggy behind the seated men; it is at least partially enclosed and has large wheels and a board attached to the back. The ground appears to be covered with short scrub.

Lady and burro colt

Description: This photograph is a picture of a young woman (Sarah Janes) wearing a white dress holidng a small, dark burro colt in her arms. In the background, there appears to be an unpaved road and several buildings, at least one of which is the Janes' house. On the back of the photograph, there is a typed note that says "Lady and burro colt" and also a handwritten note that says, "The lady's baby burro Taking care of their stock." Additionally there is a stamp that with the name "Barry Scobee" and "Fort Davis, Texas."

[Photograph of a Horse and Boy]

Description: In this photograph, a boy is holding the lead rope on a large, black horse. The boy is wearing loose clothing and a cowboy hat; the horse is all black and only wearing a halter. Behind them, there is a long building made of brick with an open, wooden door. In the background to the left, there is a wooden fence. To the right of the photograph there appears to be a black chicken. In the front, there is a shadow of a second person. According to related information, they are at the Bogel ranch (San Esteban), the boy is a young Mexican worker and the horse is a purebred Purcheon stallion.

Description: This photograph shows a group of at least four white tents in a field filled with short grass and bushes. Directly in front of the tents is a wire fence with wooden posts. Behind the tents, there is a large tree to the right, with a roof on posts over a group of people. To the left of the people, there is a covered wagon partially visible and possibly a second wagon to the far left of the photograph. In the distance, there are more trees and mountains. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads, "Tents, chuck box, and cook, covered arbor to shade eating area. About 1900."

[People Standing Near Covered Wagons]

Description: This photograph shows many people standing near a group of covered wagons parked in the right of the photograph. In the front, there are several men, some wearing suits and others loose clothing and cowboy hats; some of the men are wearing aprons. There is a hose leading from the back of the wagon in the front of the photograph. To the right, one of the wagons has a wooden platform extended like a table and one man seems to be eating off of it and there is a barrel in the middle of the photograph. In the background, there are more people, many under a large tree at the left. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph says, "About 1905-10. Chuck boxes. Water was brought for drinking and cooking from a near-by ranch. Siphoned out from barrels in wagon. One of the cooks eating a rib."
