Colquitt Spoon

Description: Actual spoon belonging to Alice M. Colquitt, wife of Robert K. Colquitt. They had a large ranch in Presidio County. "A.M. Colquitt" is engraved on the back of the handle. 1847 Roger Bros. 12 stamped on the back of the handle as well.

James Osborn Sellers

Description: Photograph of a daguerreotype picturing James Osborn Sellers in the late 1850s. He was killed in 1864 during the Civil War. He was Ethel C. Bryant's maternal grandfather. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.

Alabama Land Deed with President Buchanan's Signature

Description: Photograph of a Alabama land deed for 220 acres belonging to Garrison Deens. it is signed by President James Buchanan on November 1, 1858. Mr. Deens sold this land to James O. Sellers in 1859 or 1860. Mr. Sellers was Ethel Bryant's grandfather. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.

Description: Postcard of a portrait of the DeAnda family. Those standing (L-R) are Jose DeAnda, Jesusita DeAnda, Francisco Morales, and Jose Morales, and those sitting (L-R) are Maria DeAnda, Manuel DeAnda, Domitillia DeAnda, Marcella Huereque, and Bernarda DeAnda. There is nothing written on the back of the postcard.

[Cavalry]

Description: This photograph is of a group of cavalrymen out on drill. There are many soldiers, ranged on the slope of a mountain and wearing dark uniforms and hats. Several of the men are standing with horses in the back or to the side. Two of the men have pins on their collars, showing that they are marksmen. Behind the men, there are rocks and desert plants.
