Description: Research paper written by Cecilia Orozco about the 1st Aero Squadron, the first aviation unit used in active field service in the history of the United States Army. With the paper are two letters from Stacy C. Hinkle, which were used to write the paper. This paper was written for a history class at Marfa High School.

Alabama Land Deed with President Buchanan's Signature

Description: Photograph of a Alabama land deed for 220 acres belonging to Garrison Deens. it is signed by President James Buchanan on November 1, 1858. Mr. Deens sold this land to James O. Sellers in 1859 or 1860. Mr. Sellers was Ethel Bryant's grandfather. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.

Alice Bishop

Description: This photograph shows a young woman sitting in a chair. She is wearing a flowered dress and glasses and has her hair pulled back. Behind her, there is a wall that appears to be made of brick that is partially covered in ivy and has a door to the right. The chair appears to be on a path bordering a bed of flowers and other plants. Some parts of the photograph are obscured by white light. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph says "Alice Bishop." There is a printed border around the photograph.

Description: Postcard of a public school in Alpine, Texas. The students are posed outside the school. They range in age from small children to adolescents. A handwritten note on the front says, "Public School. Alpine, Tex." The card is dated March 17, 1911, and is addressed to Byron Avaut in Uvalde, Texas.

Description: Photograph of a rodeo parade in Alpine, Texas in October, 1924. There are several parked cars in the foreground. On the street are several men on horseback and in horse-drawn vehicles. Alpine, The Last Frontier Land

Description: Research paper written by Delia Jurado about the history of Alpine, Texas. The paper covers Alpine from the time it was formed in 1882 as Murphyville until the 1930s. Also covered are the history of Sul Ross State University and its namesake, Lawrence Sullivan Ross. This paper was written in 1971 as a research project for a class at Marfa High School.

Description: Photograph of a flagpole, viewed from the ground looking up with an American flag at the top and a Texas state flag below. A cloudy sky is visible above the pole.
