The Totem is published annually, currently in the fall. With the exception of 2000 and 2004, the Totem is published with student editorial staff under the auspices of the Office of University Relations. 2001-2003 not published.

About the Collection

Located in Abilene, McMurry College was founded in 1923 by the United Methodist Church. Offering bachelors' degrees in the fine arts, humanities, social and natural sciences, business, education, and nursing, McMurry College was renamed McMurry University in October 1989. An institutional history, Pride of our western prairies, was published by the college in 1989.

Early volumes have colored borders; some volumes have colored pages. Some volumes include an index. Most volumes are dedicated to an individual faculty or staff member. The collection includes 1936 Texas Centennial edition and 1974 50th Anniversary and 1999 75th Anniversary editions, celebrating landmarks in the history of the institution.
