[1955 vacation bible school class]

Description: Photograph of the 34th Annual Vacation Bible School Class of June 13 to 24, 1955, held by the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Beaumont, Texas. Appearing in the photograph are children and adults. The class provided religious instruction through bible stories and songs as well as youth entertainment through games, movies and handicraft activities. The image was taken on the grounds of the church.

Arapaho Road at North Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas

Description: Arapaho Road, east from North Central Expressway (U.S. Highway 75), taken from roadside between north-bound Central and its access road. A vehicle carrying earth-moving equipment is east-bound on Arapaho Road. At the SE corner of the intersection is a sign: "TURN LEFT FASCINATION HOMES NORTHRICH WEST." Five or six small trees are enclosed with a low fence on the right/south side of Arapaho. Further east is a gravel/cement/construction facility. On the left/north side of Arapaho are 2 houses. On the horizon a railroad crossing sign is visible, and a vehicle on the street at the horizon. Various utility lines and poles edge streets and the railroad.

Booming Mexia in the Roaring 20's

Description: Compilation of articles published during 1955 in The Waco-Times Herald, written by Nanine Simmons about the history of Mexia, Texas and focusing on the oil boom in the 1920s. The author includes a preface regarding the sources of her information and editorial notes for some of the articles to provide more context.

Comanche Texts

Description: This book contains Comanche folktales, along with the English translations. They are broken into several sections which are listed (along with brief summaries of the stories) in the table of contents: coyote stories; fairy tales and fables; manners and morals; adventure; and obtaining and preparing food. Both the English and Comanche texts have numbered footnotes to line up the translation, explained in the Editor's Note (p. iii); there is also an Explanatory Note describing the Comanche transcription (p. xiii). A vocabulary list including an explanation starts on page 132.
