Description: This text contains the first portion of the Austin Papers, published as part of the Annual Report of the American Historical Association. This volume includes a preface by the editor with a general history of the Austin Papers and states, "The Austin Papers are the collection of materials accumulated by Moses and Stephen F. Austin in the progress of their busy enterprises from Virginia through Missouri and Arkansas to Texas. They consist of business memoranda, physiographical observations, petitions and memorials to local and superior governments, political addresses and proclamations, and much personal and official correspondence" (p. v).

Bay City Origin - Destination Survey: October 1960

Description: Report documenting "factual data relative to the movements of vehicular traffic into and thru [sic] the Bay City area. Biography of Private Alfonso Steele (Deceased) Last Survivor of the Battle of San Jacinto, Together with Mr. Steele's Account of the Campaign and Fight, and the Official Report of General Sam Houston, With Complete Roster of the Commands Composing the Little Army.

Description: This book is separated into three basic sections starting with an autobiographical sketch about Alfonso Steele, the last survivor of the Battle of San Jacinto. Next, an article by the editor of The Mexia Daily News that gives an overview of Steele's children and grandchildren. Finally, the report from General Houston includes "documents of Major General Sam Houston, Commander-in-Chief of the Texas army, sent to David G. Burnett, President of the Republic of Texas" which "give an authentic account of the battle of San Jacinto, a complete list of the heroes who fought in that engagement, and they clear up some points heretofore the object of controversy" (p. 13).

Comanche Texts

Description: This book contains Comanche folktales, along with the English translations. They are broken into several sections which are listed (along with brief summaries of the stories) in the table of contents: coyote stories; fairy tales and fables; manners and morals; adventure; and obtaining and preparing food. Both the English and Comanche texts have numbered footnotes to line up the translation, explained in the Editor's Note (p. iii); there is also an Explanatory Note describing the Comanche transcription (p. xiii). Cotton Calculator

Description: Pamphlet with printed tables used to calculate prices of cotton. According to the title page, "Showing the results of any multiplications of all quantities from 300 to 600, at rates beginning with 1-20c or 5 points, and advancing in five points, one-sixteenth, one-eighth and one-quarter of a cent, and by cents from one to thirty." The title page also includes examples to show how to use the tables for calculations.
