Abdominal Supporter.

Description: Patent for a new and improved supporter for the abdomen during pregnancy. This design "consists of an abdominal sack for the support of the abdomen in pregnancy, which is contrived with supporting-bands adapted for supporting it from the shoulders of the wearer, where the weight can be best sustained, and so as to entirely avoid the belt commonly used, and thus relieve the stomach and liver from the pressure and irritation which it produces" (lines 7-15).

Apparatus for Handling Lint-Cotton.

Description: Patent for an apparatus for handling lint-cotton that allows air to move freely without back pressure while putting the fiber into a bat. It has a "trunk into which a series of gins deliver, of a primary condenser having a high surface speed, so that it will rapidly remove the fiber and prevent the bat from building up of such thickness as to check the escape of air, and a second condenser having a slower surface speed and arranged to receive the lint from the first condenser and form it into a thicker bat" (lines 29-37).

Automatic Car Uncoupler.

Description: Patent for a new and improved car uncoupler. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a coupling adapted to hold two cars together, of an uncoupler comprising a lever pivotally connected to the car, a weight supported on the car and connected to said lever, and a connection between the weight-operated lever and the coupling for operating it, to separate the cars upon the dropping of the weight" (lines 4-11).

Back-Band Buckle.

Description: Patent for an improved back-band buckle and an improved hook that connects the buckle with the trace-chain. The lever-hook snaps "into position and is held secure in a pane substantially flush with the lower portion of the buckle-frame when the buckle is closed by the forcing down of the lever" (lines 15-19).

Bale Tie.

Description: Patent for a new and improved tie for bales. This design calls for one long, flat piece of scrap metal to be folded over on itself twice so that there are four layers of metal as well as a loop (or "rib") on either end. Then, a hole should be cut through all four layers with a tapered opening through the edge; this design is cheaper and more durable than previous bale ties.

Description: Patent for improvement in the construction of hooks used to join the ends of ties "for packages or bales of cotton, hemp, rags, or other substances in which a divided metallic band or hoop encircling the package or bale is used, and the ends whereof are joined by a hook at one end of said band, arranged to interlock with any one of a series of mortises in the other end of the band" (para. 2).

Description: Patent for improvements in baling-presses by “simplify and strengthen the frame and operating parts, to secure a better distribution of the strains between the operating parts and the frame, and to increase the speed at which the press may be operated by permitting the platen to rise and fall to a limited extent independent of the power mechanism, so that after the loose fiber is introduced the platen may be dropped instantly a portion of the distance to effect a partial compression of the charge by its weight before bringing the power mechanism into play.” (Lines 17-29) Illustration is included.
