Churn-Dasher

Churn Dasher.

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn dasher. This design, "[a]s an article of manufacture, [consists in] the conical or concavo-convex churn dasher having a circular rim, the air cups or cells, the arms, and the raised nave or center portion, all of concavo-convex shape in their transverse sections" (lines 28-33).

Description: Patent for an improvement in a churn-dasher by constructing the head of a dasher with a series of spirally-slanting blades, the front and rear edges are curved inward forming vertical openings with lancet-shaped ends. So that it would meet with less resistance when churning with the upward stroke.

Churn Dasher.

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn-dasher for butter churns. This design calls for two weights on opposite ends of the bottom of the churn-dasher so that the dasher will "revolve with greater force and to balance it more easily upon its pivot" (lines 17-18). This lessens the wear on the bottom of the churn, which increases the longevity of the dasher.

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn motor. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a wheel or disk having a toothed periphery and provided with a broad friction-flange, or a disk at right angles to the former, bearing against its friction-flange, and having studs engaging its teeth . . . [also] [i]n a churn-motor, the combination, with the box or body of the cover, having uprights, [a] shaft having [a] crank, disk having teeth and [a] flange, and the vertical shaft having [a] disk, provided with studs" (lines 67-77).

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn-motor. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the frame, the rock-shaft arranged longitudinally in the top of the same and having the arm and the cross-head, the dasher-rods pivoted to the cross-head, the crank-shaft journaled transversely in the frame below the rock-shaft and having the fly-wheel and the pulley, the pitman connecting the crank-shaft and the arm, the driving-shaft arranged transversely in the frame, the pulley thereon, and the belt connecting the pulleys" (lines 64-74).

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn motor. This design "consists in [a] novel construction and arrangement of parts . . . The machine . . . is so constructed that it gives to the dasher a perpendicular long or short stroke, and that it may be sunk deep or shallow in the milk; and the machine may be run at the greatest speed with but little friction, and without the danger of its parts becoming loosened, and by means of its apron and attachment . . . it holds the churn in place" (lines 16-26).

Description: Patent for a new and improved motorized butter churn. This design utilizes paralleled uprights, shafts, through-holes, screw-holes, a crank, pit-men, and a cross-head (lines 85-92). This combination and arrangement of parts allows rotary motion to be converted to reciprocal motion, which improves the churning process.

Description: Patent for a new and improved churn power.
